Quanda — Building Quanda, the operating system for football agencies

Introduction

Quanda is a Senso venture, built with a founding partner, an operating system for football agencies that puts players, deals, documents and the client relationship in one place. We made every part of it, the strategy, the identity, the marketing site, the web app and the iOS app, with a portal the players themselves sign into.

The Brief

A business that runs on trust, run on spreadsheets

The relationship is not broken. What is missing is clarity.

The relationship between a player and their agent is not broken. What is missing is clarity. A player rarely sees where their own deal stands, what has been arranged for a move, or what their agent is actually doing week to week. And on the other side of it, an agency of three to fifteen people runs careers worth millions across spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads and inboxes, scattergun by tooling rather than by intent. There was no central operating system for the work, so we built one.

The stakes made it worth building properly. Generic CRMs can hold a pipeline, but they cannot say that a wage column must never reach an associate, that a client is seventeen and the rules have just changed, or that the family reading an offer deserves to see what has been arranged for their son.

Strategic Insight

An agency's software is only half built if the player cannot log in.

Every tool in this market serves the agent and treats the player as a row. Quanda's defining decision was to make the player a user. Players hold their own portal and iOS app, see the deals their agent chooses to share, add their own stats, book calls against real availability, and read exactly what has been arranged for a move. Families and guardians hold scoped access of their own. Representation is a relationship, so the software holds both ends of it.

Foundations

Trust as architecture

The load-bearing features are the ones nobody screenshots.

Who can see what is enforced in the backend, never the interface. Wages, fees and commission are stripped from responses before they reach the browser for roles without the capability, and a deal's visibility to the player is a three-state permission, hidden, aware, or full, checked at the server on every read. An agent who cannot trust that control will not put a live deal in the software at all, so it is the single most load-bearing permission in the product.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is product design, not policy. With the two-adult rule on, a call to a player under eighteen cannot be dialled until a colleague is named, and a message will not send until someone else is on the thread. Disappearing messages are unavailable with minors, and the thread says why. A call with a minor cannot be deleted by anyone, including the agent who was on it. Where the rest of the market writes terms of service, we wrote behaviour.

Engineering

One realtime backend serves the web app and the native iOS app, so an offer updated in the deal room is already current on the player's phone. Around 230 backend functions sit behind a single authorisation guard, which is what makes “can an associate see a fee line” a question with one answer in one place. Before launch the codebase went through a fifteen-agent adversarial security review, and the serious findings were fixed and verified empirically rather than by reading the diff.

Identity

The brand had to carry two audiences at once. To an agency it is serious operational software, and to a player and his family it is the place their career lives, so the identity runs quiet and confident rather than sporty. Wordmark, palette and type were built alongside the product, tested against real screens from the first week, and carried through the marketing site unchanged.

The Product

The whole agency, one place

Players, deals, documents and every conversation, each built to the grain the work actually has.

A player record carries contracts, career history and season statistics at the grain a scout talks in, one row per season per competition, with the reporting window as a control rather than an assumption. Percentages are weighted by minutes so four seasons of pass completion can never read as 300%, and per-90 rates and goals minus expected goals come free. Entry is a grid, not a form, because an agent with forty players will not open a dialog a hundred times.

The product
01 / 04

A deal room holds competing club offers side by side, structured economics that can actually be totalled, and, at the same level as the money, welfare. Housing, the first fortnight, flights home, language support, work permits, and for a player under eighteen, which FIFA Article 19 exception the move relies on. The record is read back to the player and his family as answers, and a line nobody has agreed yet says so rather than hiding. The gap is the information.

Communication lives beside the records it is about. One thread per player with internal notes filtered out server-side, browser-to-browser video calls with shared and private note pads, huddles for the thirty seconds of voice a decision actually needs, and stealth mode, a 24-hour disappearing window either side can turn on, honest enough to show a countdown on every message it will erase.

The player's own app

The player's own app

Documents run from a two-pane composer that fills from the record, through folders, tags and protection rules, to signature. The audit trail is tamper-evident, each entry hashing the one before it, and completed agreements can carry a cryptographic seal that verifies in a browser with Quanda switched off. Signing also runs through Signet, our own e-signing venture, one Senso product inside another.

The Outcome

A venture, shipped whole

Quanda launches with four plans, its limits enforced at the backend rather than hidden in the pricing page, and a marketing site built from the product's own claims-audited feature list, so nothing it sells is unshipped. Built with a founding partner, it is Senso's second venture and the fullest proof of the model so far. The strategy, the identity, the marketing site, the product design, the engineering and the security posture came from one studio, and the next chapter is agencies moving their book in.
